1.5 km of rails – one slim system for 161 balconies
Together with the Fides Group we developed a standardized handrail system to equip 161 apartments efficiently while keeping the look
clean and high-quality. The goal was a slim picket-style railing that repeats across many building sec ons – simplifying engineering,
fabrica on and on-site installa on.
At the core are double posts made from 40/10 flat steel. Connec on points use custom stainless-steel connectors that we milled in
house, ensuring consistent geometry, uniform appearance and fast installa on rou nes. In total we produced about 1.5 km of handrails – a scale where process stability and repeatable accuracy truly ma er
Produc on took place in our Ramec 3 handrail shop. Fabrica on of the full quan ty was completed in roughly three months, while
installa on is spread over around two years, as typical for residen al developments. A smart serial system – built for speed, cost control
and a consistent architectural finish.
To keep the system consistent throughout the long construc on period, we set clear standards for dimensions, tolerances and
connec on details. Every part is traceably labeled and documented – essen al when installa on takes place in stages over many
months. This turns countless individual components into one coherent architectural line across the en re development. The outcome is
a railing family that looks calm and light, yet is engineered for repeat produc on and predictable site progress.
