Kuhstall Bremen (Holz/Stahl-Hybrid)
Express steel for 20,000 m² – when the deadline is non-negotiable
For the Rudolf Hörmann Group we delivered around 175 tonnes of steel to Bremen on an express schedule. The project is a timber-steel
hybrid cow barn exceeding 20,000 m² – a build where timing and interfaces have to align perfectly. Our scope includes the main columns
with cross bracing and connection details, while timber rafters and purlins complete the structural system. Design and erection are
handled by Hörmann.
With such a short lead time, logistics became the critical lever. To meet the tight deadline we routed the steel through the port of Koper
and moved it onward by truck to Bremen. Especially during the holiday season, road restrictions and detours across Germany can quickly
become a risk – making precise planning essential.
Manufacturing took place in Ramec 2. The outcome: steelwork delivered on time for a large-scale project that combines modern
agriculture with efficient hybrid construction.
We prepared the shipments as just-in-time packages: sorted bundles, clear labeling and connection details so the erection crews can
work without delays. In a hybrid structure, the steel-to-timber interface is critical – the better the fit of the steel components, the faster
rafters and purlins can follow. That keeps the timber works moving and the overall schedule stable. Even under time pressure, our focus
remained on fit-up accuracy and dependable interfaces – the foundations for fast hybrid assembly. From packaging to dispatch,
everything was set up to let the site team build without pauses.
